Sweden in touch – New community website for international students

Sweden in Touch, is a new site for international students and was launched on the 1st of October.  Its aim is to network all the international students in Sweden, of which there are approximately 28 000. It has been launched by the Swedish Institute. The first goal of the website is to reach  3 000 of the international students in Sweden.

I think it’s a great site – there’s already a whole bunch of people on it and a number of university networks.

I was at a breakfast seminar recently where I got to see Olle Wästberg give a presentation about Sweden as a brand. Olle Wästberg is the director of the Swedish Institute and previous Consulate General in New York. One of the things he talked about was the aim of the Swedish Institute to have an ‘omnipresence’ of Sweden on the web. This is clearly the case, when you look at the high quality of some of their other websites, for example, Study in Sweden

  1. Hi,

I want to apply for a master programme at Lund University. Please tell me which are the deadline application dates. As I understood it starts on the 1st of December and it ends on January, 15th.
I saw some different date applications on different web sites. That’s why I am so confused.

Is there a difference between the application dates for EU and non-EU students?

Please tell me when does it start and when does it end for each cathegory?

    Thank you very much!

  2. Hi there Irina Mereacre, (I’ve emailed you as well)

The official dates, as given by studera.nu are: December 1st 2008 – January 15th 2009. The deadline for documents has not been set yet.

You can see all the date information here: https://www.studera.nu/studera/1201.html

The main purpose of the Dec – Jan application period is for non-EU students to make their application, so that they have sufficient time to get their visa in order. There is a further application period in 2009, which ends in April, which is mainly intended for Swedish students. EU students can apply then, but all international students are advised to apply during the Dec – Jan period.

You apply online at studera.nu: https://www.studera.nu/studera/241.html You make your application online and send your documents to a central office in Sweden, nothing is sent to the university.

Let me know if you need more.
